Since its early beginnings, many people have wanted the Pokémon world to be real. With over a thousand of these creatures to choose from, the thought of how they would act if they were real has surely gone through the heads of most players. As much as you may love your cat, dog, or bird, just imagine what it would be like to have your favorite Pokémon cuddling up to you at night or helping take care of things around the house. With that said, not every Pokémon would do well in a house all day. Whether it’s because of their size or the destruction they could accidentally invoke, there are sometimes better choices for a Pokémon as a pet.

It feels strange to say, but there’s no JRPG series more popular than Pokémon. While often omitted from genre discourse, this byproduct of its nascent years would go on to help revitalize JRPGs during their dark era of mainstream irrelevancy.
